Tours: Billy Liar and Paper Rifles announce Germany tour

by jeff@nospam.punknews.org (jeff) @ Punknews.org

Acoustic acts Billy Liar and Paper Rifles have announced they will be heading out on a one-week tour of Germany this coming February. Billy Liar's last released the Funeral Food single (with Freddy Fudd Pucker in 2016. Whilst Paper Rifle just released a two-sing single, Faith Healer this past December, and you can check out the track "A New Midnight" from that album, as well as the tour dates, below.

I have been going to Warped tour since 2014. Warped 2014 I got to see people in wheelchairs crowd surf. 2015 warped means a lot to me and idk where I would be without that concert. 2016 I went into my first mosh pit. And warped 2017 I got to hang out with my internet friend (it was only the second time meeting in person). Overall sooooo many good memories. In the years you have been going, what are some of your favorite memories?

by @ Vans Warped Tour

That sounds awesome! Sad there won’t be any new memories in the years to come though. But I’ve been going since 2012, Warped was my very first concert ever! I’ve since seen over 100 bands live so Warped being the first has a lil special place in my heart lol. I’ve been some great people throughout the years, only being able to really meet up with them at Warped every year, so not seeing the usual group of people every summer after next will suck, but I’ve made some good friends out of it! Lots of great memories for sure so I’ll keep it to just that!

Boujie On A Budget: How To Glitter A Champagne Bottle

by Erin @ Revenge Bakery

Do you want to live that champagne life on a wine cooler budget? Same, girl. Same. Fun fact, did you know that the majority of “champagne” you see at the grocery store isn’t actually champagne? It’s just sparkling wine! It has to be from the Champagne region of France (aka fancy as f*ck) to be considered real champagne.  Most of us aren’t looking to spend $200 on a bottle of champagne. Let’s just get that out in the open. As boujie as it feels to ball out and spend a bunch of $$$ on a fancy bottle for NYE or a special occasion, it’s more likely I’ll end up with a bottle of 2 buck chuck. I know, so embarrassing right? WRONG. I’m here to make all of your champagne dreams come true. Not only are my glittery champagne bottles a super kira kira worthy decoration, your friends will be too distracted by how chic and sparkly they are to even notice how much you spent! DIY Glitter Chamapgne Bottles Glitter champagne bottles are literally THE perfect New Years Even decoration. They’re sparkly, gold and you can even carry them around all night topping people’s drinks off. People will be […]

In short, he says it’s the last “full cross-country run” and that he “looks forward to what’s to come as we commemorate the tour’s historic 25th anniversary in 2019.”

As far as I can tell, 2018 is the final year of Warped. There’ll probably be something special going on in 2019 for the 25th anniversary, but I doubt it’s gonna be a full tour. Unfortunately next year is the last.

Warped Tour - Top 10 Reasons To Go

Bands and Brands

Never been to the Vans Warped Tour before? Here's why you should!

I'm so sad it's ending because I've never had the chance to go because my parents thought I was too young. My Mom finally gave in and said I can go this year. I keep thinking about it and every time i cry because I know that my first time going will be my last. But I also know that the line up will be amazing. I need to find out what venue it is at first for the Detroit date.

by @ Vans Warped Tour

It really is sad. There’s no other yearly summer tour like Warped (for now) so now it’s like what’s there to look forward to every summer now?? It’ll be my seventh year in a row, sucks that it has to be the last ;-;

Hi, so I went to the Atlanta date and the official group picture for Andy Black's TEI hasn't been uploaded yet? I've been checking back every day since and I don't know if my webpage for it isn't updating or what, but I've been looking for it and all that's on the page is like two random ones. :(

by @ Vans Warped Tour

There are only three photos for Andy’s TEI for the Atlanta date, since it was a while ago, I doubt that they’ll upload any more for previous dates. Sorry, I know that it sucks, but this isn’t all that uncommon with any type of group photo event. I would try and contact TEI directly about it, because I don’t think they’ll upload any more for the Atlanta date otherwise.

How to Diagnose Lymphoma

by @ How to of the Day

Lymphoma is a group of blood cancers that develop in the lymphatic system. They are generally divided into 2 groups, Hodgkin lymphoma and non-Hodgkin lymphoma, although the term non-Hodgkin lymphoma encapsulates a variety of lymphomas. Both general types of lymphoma have similar basic symptoms, so if you spot them you won't initially know what type of lymphoma might be developing. Lymphoma is properly diagnosed by identifying common symptoms and then getting a medical diagnosis. In order to give a proper diagnosis, your doctor will run a variety of tests on you, typically including imaging and a biopsy of one of your lymph nodes.

How to Treat Type 2 Diabetes Naturally

How to Treat Type 2 Diabetes Naturally

by @ How to of the Day

Type 2 diabetes often begins with an insulin resistance, which causes the pancreas to overwork itself and eventually start producing less insulin. This low production of insulin can cause the blood sugar levels in your body to drop. There is no quick cure or reversal for type 2 diabetes, but you can take steps to make living with it manageable. Natural treatments like following a balanced, clean diet and exercising regularly can help to keep your blood sugar under control. You can also try taking plant-based supplements to regulate your insulin levels naturally, though you should still take diabetes medication if it is prescribed to you. If you experience any adverse effects while taking supplements or your medication, speak to your doctor right away.

How to Take an Unconventional Career Path

by Erin @ Revenge Bakery

What do you want to be when you grow up? I feel like that was one of the first questions I can remember being asked as a kid. And I’m still asking my self that as a grown up. As many of you know, I got my start working in the music industry. I hustled hard for the first chunk of my career-driven life. I worked 10 hour days, 7 days a week a lot of the time. I fought to make a name for myself in a very competitive industry. But, at the end of the day (after a lot of days), I realized I wasn’t happy. After some trial and error (a few odd jobs and a lot of crying), I’ve ended up where I am today: completely self-employed and running my own business. I have employees, hire freelancers, set up an LLC & even have a lawyer I “confer with” regarding business (so grown up I know). One of the hardest things was figuring out what the “Career Path of Least Resistance” was. For me, one of the hardest parts was recognizing and accepting that I needed to take an unconventional career path. There were (and still […]

How to Stop Muscle Twitches

by @ How to of the Day

Muscle twitches are caused by small contractions in either a part of a muscle or a whole muscle. They can occur in any muscle in the body but often occur in the limbs, eyelids, or diaphragm. They are typically caused by either stimulation to the muscle or by a problem with a nerve. While most muscle twitches are nothing to worry about and pass quickly, there are some that are more severe and are symptoms of serious medical conditions.

The Inaugural Engage Music Festival Shows Promise for the Future

The Inaugural Engage Music Festival Shows Promise for the Future

by Dom Vigil @ Articles - The Prelude Press

Last weekend, twenty-one Colorado bands came together for the inaugural Engage Music Festival, which took over both stages at Summit Music Hall for twelve hours of non-stop local music. The concept of bringing together local artists for a day, or even a weekend-long music festival isn’t necessarily a unique idea, as any Colorado resident and music lover is at least somewhat familiar with festivals like The UMS and Westword Music Showcase, but what Engage founder Ben Weir did for the first year of this festival took guts. Spearheaded and funded almost entirely by himself and supported by friends that he has made over the years in the local music scene as the vocalist of alternative rock band Tonight We Rise, Weir essentially created this new festival from the ground up, booking all of the artists and finding every single sponsor on his own. Engage Music Festival certainly isn’t the first of its kind, but it’s definitely unique in its execution.

by @ How to of the Day

The senbazuru comes from an ancient Japanese legend that says a wish will be granted to anyone who folds 1000 paper cranes. Today, in addition to adorning shrines, senbazuru are gifted at weddings, births, or other celebrations. By folding 1000 cranes, stringing your paper cranes, and hanging them up, you can make your own senbazuru to give as a gift or to decorate your home.

Embrace creative storage options, like glass jars, for odds and ends.

The Easiest Appetizer Ever: Mini Chicken & Waffle Sliders

by Erin @ Revenge Bakery

Is there really anything better than an appetizer? I was browsing through Southern Living’s collection of “Festive Mini Appetizers” at about 2 AM one night (or morning I should say), drooling over all of the bite sized creations recently. I get a major snack attack late at night. So it’s pretty dangerous for me to start scrolling through food photos. I instantly pinned the most mouth watering recipe for Buttermilk Chicken and Waffles. Fast forward to the next morning when I decided to make them… I felt a little lazy. Ok, a lot lazy. As amazing as the recipe sounded, I didn’t have the energy to make them. But I still had the craving. So, in typical “Revenge Bakery” fashion, I opted to find an easy alternative. AKA… how can I make these in under 30 minutes with what I’ve already got in the freezer. The Easiest Appetizer Ever: Mini Chicken & Waffle Sliders Cue: me opening the freezer. I have a lot of random stuff in there. I zeroed in on the two key components that could make my dream come true: Mini Eggo Waffles and Popcorn Chicken. That’s right… you can wow your friends and make them think you spent hours […]

When I say road trip, I don’t necessarily mean a road trip from home. To get to Lake Louise, you’ve gotta drive. It’s one of those dreamy destinations that needs to be on your travel bucket list. But it’s not the easiest to get to. We added it to our Canadian Vacation itinerary and stopped along the way from Banff to Jasper. The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise In the snow, it took about an hour for us to drive from Banff to Jasper. The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is one of the most beautiful hotels I’ve ever seen. It’s called “The Diamond in the Wilderness” because it’s completely secluded, totally lux & set on a famous lake that’s right next to a ton of adventurous, nature activities. The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise literally feels like the location at the end of a disney movie. It’s where the princess’s dreams all come true and everything magically comes to life. About the Hotel Whether you’re looking for an adventure or a relaxing weekend getaway, the Chateau is the place to be. In the summer, you can go hiking, canoeing, mountain biking, fishing, whitewater rafting, horseback riding or even take a boat cruise. […]

Music That Doesn't Suck: The Wise Man's Fear

by Dom Vigil @ Articles - The Prelude Press

It's somewhat hard to keep things simple when it comes to The Wise Man's Fear. The Indianapolis sextet dubs themselves fantasycore and it's a fitting title, especially considering the concept of their latest record,  The Lost City which follows the journey of Cairne, the runaway son of a King who desperately seeks to start a new life away from his upbringing.  The Lost City ties in with the band's theatrical 2015 release, Castle In The Clouds, and both albums are honestly worthy of a comic book or graphic novel adaptation.

Get It Poppin: How To Make Your Own Confetti Poppers

by Erin @ Revenge Bakery

Happy almost New Year! I’ve been sick as a dog this past week and totally behind on all of the holiday festivities. I literally just opened all of my Christmas presents. I took my first adventure outside of the house to get some new years decorations (you know, before everything sells out). Also had to stock up on chicken noodle soup. I stopped at Party City, the craft store & Target and was majorly disappointed in the assortment of decor options. It’s 2017 and all of the decorations look like cheesy stock options from the 90s still. What’s that all about? Not to mention they’re SO overpriced. The only other options are to order decorations online or make them yourself. If I was on top of my game, I would have ordered stuff about a month ago. But, I’m obviously not one of those people. So it looks like I’m in the DIY boat. Nothing says “CELEBRATION” like a little confetti. I mean, it literally lingers in your hair and in the nooks and crannies of your house for months after. So it’s really the gift that keeps on giving. Remember that one time I did a confetti photoshoot? Yea […]

Then, dig the trench for the drain and put the drain in properly so it can direct water away from your home.

Music That Doesn't Suck: MassMatiks

by Dom Vigil @ Articles - The Prelude Press

London's MassMatiks describe themselves as in your face indie music, but they'd rather not be burdened by one specific sound or genre, and we wouldn't have it any other way. The band's most recent single, "Meat" is high energy, hip-hop tinged rock while the aggressive "Blank Wall" is a snarky punk anthem, and "4AM" finds them embracing a more emotional side of their sound.

5 Artists You Don't Want to Miss at Decadence 2017

by Dom Vigil @ Articles - The Prelude Press

Not only is Decadence easily one of the best New Years Eve parties in Denver, but it is also one of the city's largest electronic festivals of the year. Unlike HARD, which takes place at Red Rocks in the blistering summer sun, you can get cozy inside the Colorado Convention Center and party the night away to some of the scene's biggest acts. The massive two-day lineup might seem daunting, especially since there are two stages and a silent disco to navigate this year, so if you're having some trouble trying to figure out who to catch, you're in luck!

The Most Magical Place on Earth: Winter in Banff

by Erin @ Revenge Bakery

Winter in San Diego isn’t quite what most of us envision when we think of chilly mornings, drinking hot cocoa by the fire while watching the snow fall. It’s been about 70 F here! Tony and I decided to take the trip of a lifetime to Alberta Canada a few weeks ago and let me tell you… it was nothing short of magical! There’s not better place to spend your winter than in Canada, especially Banff. We flew into Calgary and spent the day wandering around and experiencing the city before heading out to Banff National Park. The drive from Calgary to Banff takes about an hour and a half. FYI don’t speed. You’ll get a ticket… trust me! Where To Stay I’m going to be real with you guys. There’s only one place you want to stay if you head to Banff. The Fairmont Banff Springs is the hotel that Pinterest dreams are made of. It’s literally the most beautiful, picturesque hotel I’ve ever been to. The “Castle in the Rockies” has major Hogwarts vibes, set against a backdrop of mountains and forests. The hotel was built in 1988, originally for the Canadian Pacific Railway as a luxury resort to […]
