10 must-try café in Saigon

by hienmi @ Ho Chi Minh City – Blog | Eviva Tour Vietnam

The local Cloth-filter coffee in District 11 retains its luscious aroma thanks to hand-crafted way of making, while Mockingbird and Sai Gon Oi at the old apartment in District 1 bring out the enjoyable space with exquisite decors. 1.Cà phê vợt (Cloth-filter coffee)  Located behind Thiec Market in District 11 (HCMC), although Mr Thanh’s small cafe on Tan Phuoc Street has no signboard, it’s still well-known. Just like making tea, the hand-crafted coffee-making process is to put the coffee powder in a cloth filter in a clay cooking pot, and then pour some boiling water into it. A few minutes later the coffee is poured into the warm aluminum, placed on the stove before serving guests. Each hot black coffee costs VND 4,000 and hot milk coffee is VND 6,000. 2. Cửa hàng cà phê 81 (81 café) Despite being located in the crowded District 1, this café shop has a very peaceful and pleasant atmosphere on Nguyen Van Nguyen Street. Visitors will be impressed right from the signs, the decor to the time-faded wall. Spacious lounge space with multiple seats makes it comfortable for customers to find their own places. A basic menu of drinks with lemonade, coffee, tamarind […]

Vietnam Brocade – The Essence of Vietnamese Handicraft

by admin @ Guides – Visit Our Vietnam

Over the past decades witnessed great movements towards textile digital printing in the textile industry like others including digital cameras, CDs, DVDs and so forth. Advances in digital technologies – let’s say a ‘real’ digital camera – have made shooting pictures easier for amateur photographers yet as for someone who thirst for ‘true’ art of photography, an ‘old’ motion picture camera is irreplaceable. Unlike digital printed textiles, hand – made fabrics are unique yet beautiful. Music lovers are still falling in love with classical music records worth at least hundreds of dollars. International Exhibition of Hand – made Textiles sponsored by UNESCO is going to be held in Clermont – Ferrand in France in September, 2012 with the motive to promote and preserve traditional and religious artifacts. Vietnamese brocade fabrics are also on display at the exhibition. Vietnamese famous designer Minh Hanh takes advantages of the beauty of Vietnamese brocade fabrics made by ethnic minorities in North – West Vietnam and Central Highlands. In fact, most Vietnamese textile products are fabricated by H’Mong locals, mostly skillful and meticulous craftsmen, in Ha Giang Province and Bac Ha Province and others in Central Highlands. You can choose which one is suitable with your travel plan and apply without hesitation since both of them are legal. 2. Drinks and food served at rooftop bars here are unsurprisingly on the pricier side, however, is still relatively inexpensive. With excellent service, stylish ambience, and lively crowd, a night out (or two) at Ho Chi Minh’s most popular rooftop bars is definitely well worth the extra expense. While some are highlighted by […]

Vietnamese food – Vietnamese goodness

by admin @ Guides – Visit Our Vietnam

Food is an important part in forming unique culture of Vietnam. It is true to say that without sampling local food, you have not truly visited the country. The best food in Vietnam cannot be found in luxury restaurants or hotels. To taste the most authentic delicacies, it is better to eat in small places which are tucked away on small alleys or on narrow pavement. It is a common thing to see well-dressed ladies sitting in plastic stools for their lunch and formally worn gentlemen drinking beer on pavement after their work shift. This beautiful country has a lot more to offer other than pho – the famous dish that has been listed by CNN Travel as one of the most delicious food in the world. 1. Grilled-pork vermicelli Grilled-pork vermicelli (Bun cha) is the favorite dish of almost of foreign visitors. by Ha My @ Blog | Eviva Tour Vietnam

Vietnam is famous for fine architectural Buddhism pagodas and temples but not so many people know about unique churches and cathedral throughout this country. With the unique architecture, these churches in Vietnam have made quite an impact on the tourists who love architecture. 1. Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon Many people don’t know that the full name of Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica is Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of The Immaculate Conception. Through many years, despite many ups and downs of history, the Cathedral in the heart of Saigon still look splendid, solemn and magnificent. For many people, It is considered as the masterpiece architecture of Sai Gon. All building materials of this cathedral including cement, steel, and screw were brought from France. The outside of cathedral was made of Marseille brick which still keeps its colour till now. The architecture of Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica is fascinating and precise, from the wall, glass window, the bell, the Madonna… Every pattern of the cathedral follows Roman and Gothic architecture, blending both solemn and refined. 2. Saint Joseph Cathedral in Hanoi Probably everyone in Hanoi, whether being a Christian or not, all knows about St. Joseph’s Cathedral. The cathedral was designed in Gothic […]

It made this old city more ancient and a little bit mystery. The city has a colorful coat at night and its river is sparkling because of tiny candle flowers flowing. You could walk and visit some stores or play traditional games in some main streets, such as playing chess, playing traditional instrument, etc. I am impressed because of the charming of this city at night and the traditional culture of Vietnam. It is ideal place for wedding photo shoots and honey moon. I could not forget the variety of foods in Hoi An where I found either western foods or Vietnamese traditional foods. Moreover, I had a new handmade leather bag in Hoi An and a pair of […]

Paddling through Ninh Binh’s limestone landscape

by admin @ Visit Our Vietnam

Towering rocks that once protected the feudal capital of Vietnam await those who crave a taste of raw nature. On a typical Friday, hundreds of tourists flock to the narrow dock at Trang An, Ninh Binh’s largest limestone complex. From here, boat after boat set out to explore a maze of 250-million-year-old limestone karst towers and waterways, which covers over 6,000 hectares (14,800 acres). According to UNESCO, the Trang An Complex displays signs of human activity from more than 30,000 years ago. The sea has invaded the area several times in recent geological past, but now limestone towers rise up to 200 meters above the water. A boat drifts into a dark, narrow cave. A total of 48 caves have been explored, and a two-hour tour will take tourists through four or five of the biggest. During the rainy season, it takes skill to weave through these majestic limestone gateways. Lotus blossoms at the foot of a karst cliff in Trang An. Around June and July, lotus flowers can be found in ponds, lakes, dams and rivers around the province. Hornwort dominates the surface under the lotus beds. The submerged, free-floating plant is a signature of Ninh Binh, a sign […]

by Ha My @ Blog | Eviva Tour Vietnam

Pete Vrouras, a famous blogger from California, USA, has spent a lot of time in Vietnam, from north to south. He often updates his travel experiences, including his memorable trip to this S-shape country. In this article, we would like to introduce the 7 top destinations in Vietnam that Pete has recommended. 1. Ha Giang Riding motorbike around Ha Giang is one of the experiences Pete loves the most in Vietnam. Ha Giang, to the very north of the country, is rather a place to escape from the busy noisy city. The roads here bend around the limestone mountains, through the valleys with terraced rice fields and into the town. The journey may take from 3 to 5 days depending on the path you choose to get on. 2. Dong Ba Market in Hue Dong Ba Market is located in the east of Hue city, along the Huong River. At this market, you can enjoy countless Hue specialties for about 40,000 VND. Quickly pick a seat in the crowded market and order your favorite dishes from the food court. With Pete, Hue is famous for its delicious food. This is an ancient capital with palaces and mausoleums of the Nguyen […]

Traveling experience in Vietnam: Hanoi vs Ho Chi Minh City

by admin @ Ho Chi Minh City – Blog | Eviva Tour Vietnam

When I think back to my holiday in Vietnam, I remember a land full of contrasts. Hanoi has a lot of different characteristics such as busy bustling specialized streets which sell single items or services, a peaceful Hoan Kiem Lake with its temples, pretty sesame trees, impressive ceramic road and historic French colonial buildings… Hanoi people get up before dawn. The streets get noisy from 6am with motorbike engine and honks, public announcements and music from district’s speakers in the morning. From late afternoon until 11pm at night, the area around St Joseph’s Cathedral was crowded with young people, all sitting in the local cafes on pavements, drinking lemon ice tea, cracking sun-flower seeds and socialising with friends. After spending 2 days in Hanoi, I flew to Ho Chi Minh City, a much more energetic city than Hanoi. It has a youthful spirit and a vibrant nightlife. The streets are wider and there are a larger number of tall office buildings than in Hanoi. In the cities, an image printed on picture-postcard of Vietnam, for example an old woman in a conical hat carrying fruits and local snacks on their shoulder, can be occasionally caught in daily life. However, that […]

What to highlight from Hoi An, Vietnam?

by admin @ Visit Our Vietnam

Hoi An is one of many magnificent destinations for not only Vietnamese but also foreign travelers – which, in a not so exaggerated way, is a grappling hook of attraction. It was a golden opportunity for me to feel the generosity and hospitability from people in Hoi An as well as to experience the delights of charming architects and exquisite local cuisine in this ancient town. I would like to cherry pick some features based on my own perspective insights. 1. Exploring beautiful history rides At the first glance of Hoi An magnificent town, it caught my attention at the very first sight. The yellow-oriented Asian style architect suddenly made “history” and “culture” be the words springing out of my mind. Woke up early in the morning to fully witness the city, I decided to go to Sa Huynh cultural museum located in Tran Phu street With a great display of rich and rare antiques and a number of related documents and photos, the museum is a crucial relic of Sa Huynh culture and represents the pure essence of Hoi An’s history, especially the extensive trade network and cultural exchange among Southeast Asia, South India and China. By looking at […]

by admin @ Guides – Visit Our Vietnam

Vietnam is a new destination and you are planning to go there? There are some important guidance you should take into consideration to fulfill a great trip to Vietnam. 1. Entry requirement: To get into Vietnam, visa is a compulsory document you need to prepare. The first thing comes out of your mind is to apply visa at Vietnam Embassy.
