Ho Chi Minh City: The Walking Tour - Lamyerda

Lamyerda

Scooters all over the highway of Saigon were crazy like speedster rushing to meet the justice league to save the world. And just because the motorcycles were like racing doesn’t mean I had to. My goal was to take everything slow and I hate to say that I rushed from Tan Son Nhat International Airport to Cu Chi Tunnels with my backpack on my first day in Vietnam! That spur of a moment that you want to squeeze as many sights as possible but end up being exhausted. Ugh, I hate that! My second day in Saigon was no rush, though. I’m glad I booked at Ho Sen 2 Hotel. It’s near to almost everything. I took advantage of the free breakfast buffet at Ho Sen 2 Hotel. Not the best breakfast but enough to brightened up my morning. I spotted the Opera House from Ho Sen 2 Hotel, it’s going to be about a few minutes walk from where I was. There was somewhat orchestra where people gathered in front of the Opera House. The opera house was a good area to start my walking tour around Ho Chi Minh City. I strolled through Hotel Continental and headed to …

Ghent: Quaint, Charming and the most beautiful city of Belgium!

by Riz Baldivia @ Lamyerda

Arguably, Ghent is the most lovely, historically rich and romantic city in Belgium aside from Bruges. I thought about skipping Belgium as part of my Europe Trip, but glad that I didn’t! I never thought that Ghent is abso-fuckin-lutely gorgeous! The beautiful canals, picturesque Graslei and Korenlei, cute cafes, cobblestone streets, majestic cathedrals, Museums, wonderful bridges, impressive architectures, magical castles and hot men everywhere – Ghent stole my heart! The old city center is so exquisite with attractions that are clustered together which is perfect for a great stroll. Donna and I wander around the medieval streets of the city and relaxed in one of those restaurants overlooking the city with a nice drink watching at the people as they go past. Time seems so fast in Ghent because there are so many things to see! I regret that I only spent a day there! Ghent deserves more than a day to fully explore its stunning city, but it only takes a second to fall under its spell! I felt like I was in a Gothic fantasy book never wanting to reach the end of the page.   St. Bavo’s cathedral was closed during the time of our visit, and […]

The Lakehouse: Fairytale Tudor Style Hotel In Cameron Highlands

by Riz Baldivia @ Lamyerda

Magical! That’s what I described our Christmas stay in The LakeHouse, a Fairy tale Tudor style hotel in Ringlet Cameron Highlands. I’ve been to Cameron Highlands a few times and I have never been to The Lake House. I thought it would be a good idea to book one of their elegant rooms with my family and friends. Christmas is the busiest day of the year and we were lucky to book the last room! We stayed in a beautiful Family Suite with clean bathroom and luxurious amenities. The bed with its white curtain drapes is not only elegant but is also comfortable. I have a thing for colonial style hotel and it did not disappoint me. The Family Suite is huge which consists of two separate rooms and is decorated in an old classic furniture’s. The only drawback is that the bathroom is attached to the masters room and it’s a bit of a hassle to go through which is quite disturbing to the person sleeping in the masters. There is TV for entertainment and although the WIFI  is strong, it gets intermittent sometimes. The room is blessed with a great garden view, moreover, I am so charmed with […]

by Queenie @ Eatwalkfeel

Zaanse Schans: Windmills, Chocolates and Dutch Costume in a lovely little town in Holland

by Riz Baldivia @ Lamyerda

Zaanse Schans is the Holland I was looking for! Windmills, cheese, chocolates, wooden houses, Dutch costume, and a historically bucolic countryside! After the rainy days in France and the chill winds of Belgium, we were delighted that Holland gave us a warm sunny weather! And I was all fired up to know that Zaanse Schans is just less than an hour away from Amsterdam. Donna and I took the bus to this picturesque windmill village. And guess what the first thing we did..wear the Dutch costume! We hilariously looked so classic wearing the traditional Dutch dress and the clogs made me feel how it was like to live in a village dating back to 1850s. Beautiful windmills, farmlands, wonderful lake, and cute little cafes. Zaanse Schans is freaking photogenic! It is also impressive that the windmills are still functional! It’s like reviving the past back to life. It is touristy, yet, this quaint lovely town is so charming and romantic.   After having a go wearing, dancing, laughing and taking loads of photos with the Dutch-maid costume, we decided to take a seat at one of the little cafes and had our morning coffee while breathing-in and enjoying the lovely view of the […]

by Queenie @ Eatwalkfeel

Because the magic of Siquijor is Paliton Beach; not witchcraft, nor black magic, and definitely not voodoo!

by Riz Baldivia @ Lamyerda

When we mention Siquijor, what often comes to our minds are kulam (witchcraft), black magic, mystic, sorcery, and the official name, the Island of Fire (Isla Del Fuego). So many negative notions with this town, that most people are reluctant to visit the island. But the truth is, Siquijor is a very beautiful island, and safe. The Philippines is an archipelago, gifted with so many remote islands and Siquijor is one of them. The natural beauty of the Cambughay Falls, Salagdoong Beach, to the old balete tree (strangler fig tree) which is believed to be enchanted, captivated me! But I have to say that my favorite place in Siquijor is the gorgeous and secluded beach of Paliton. The Paliton Beach, called the little Boracay of Siquijor, boasts a powdery white sand, blue and green waters, and giant palm trees. They say sunset is so dramatic here too, that’s why they call it the little Boracay of Siquijor. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to watch the sunset here. A perfect description of a tropical paradise. No crowd, no rubbish, only serenity, sparkling blue sea, fishing boats and genuine smiles of the local fishermen. Their smile is so unpretentious that you have to give […]

From a traveller's perspective, Singapore is one of the most travel-friendly destinations in Asia. From budget hostels to luxury hotels, you can easily find a suitable accommodation that fits your budget. You can find hostels and hotels in almost every town or precinct in Singapore, but most of them are relatively quite good for the price you are paying. And I enjoy doing staycations at our local hostels and hotels to see how they fare with the accommodation offered in other countries.

A Magical Dinner at Lewin Terrace

by Deenise Glitz @ Deenise Glitz

Many fine dining restaurants in Singapore offer diners with great ambience and exquisite food paired with good wines or champagnes. Though I’m not a food connoisseur by profession, I could tell the difference between deliciously-made food and grandiosely-prepared food. There’s this fine line between both standards of food. The latter is not only appetizing,…

Best Look outs in Budapest with Stunning city views!

by Riz Baldivia @ Lamyerda

One of the things I love about Budapest is that there are so many lookouts and viewpoints that meets the eye. I have compiled the best spots to take photos in Budapest and all of these places are so captivating and offers stunning panoramic views of the city! BUDA CASTLE This Grandeur palace is mind-blowing with its great architecture and it showcases the best panoramic view over pest city. The castle has a breathtaking view of the bridge, parliament and the Danube River. The castle is old but its charm remains lovely and it is indeed a gateway to a fantastic view. Getting here is easy. You can either take the Funicular railway or walk your way up to the hill. Either way, it caters an amazing view. Daytime is stunning and night view is just magical!   FISHERMAN’S BASTION Fisherman’s Bastion is one of my favorite spots to take tons of photos. The view from this angle is just wonderful with a new feel of the old city on top of the hill. No wonder why so many people are so captivated by its grand alluring architecture and lovely arches. What’s great about it is that it is right […]

NAMASTE! Heaven Isn’t Too Far Away

by Riz Baldivia @ Lamyerda

I’ve been thinking about good motivational quotes and paragraphs to start this blog but after abusing my backspace and delete buttons, I gave up. It’s been a while since I put my travel stories on paper and I think I’ve lost the touch of the flowery words to start my tales. In that case, let me start this one with a message of gratitude for my good friend Riz of Lamyerda.com for giving me an opportunity to be a guest blogger on her awesome site. So here it is. Most of us do have some silly Bucket List and I am no exception. Two of mine are “Travelling to the Himalayas” and “Experience Snow”. Who could have known that I can tick both just with one trip? And that is all my story about. The Target Location: Annapurna Basecamp is a common topic along the trails of Malaysia. At 4130 meters, Annapurna Basecamp is just 35 meters higher than Mt. Kinabalu. But don’t be fooled as we are only talking about the base camp. Annapurna Mountain is the 10th highest mountain in the world with only 69% of successful summits, the remaining 31%…fatalities. So not be a morbid one, reaching […]

by Queenie @ Eatwalkfeel

by Queenie @ Eatwalkfeel
