The series follows the story of a young surgeon, Shaun Murphy (played by Freddie Highmore), who has autism and savant syndrome, and relocates from a quiet country life to join a prestigious hospital’s surgical unit. Amazon has picked up crime thriller drama ABSENTIA, which features Richard Brake in the role of ‘Conrad Harlow’. Prime Video will be the exclusive home to the series in many international countries, including the UK and US. ABSENTIA centres on FBI agent Emily Byrne (played by Stana Katic) who disappears after hunting down one of Boston’s most notorious serial killers. Six years later, Emily is found in a cabin in the woods, barely alive, and with no memory of the years she was missing. Returning home to learn her husband has remarried and her son is being raised by another woman, she soon finds herself implicated in a new series of murders. The series is set for a 2018 premiere.
