The Passion

by Bob Holmes @ Lumaria Workshops

One slip and it’s a watery grave in the raging tributary to the Indus. Passion is such an overused word but I don’t know a photographer who is not passionate about what they do. They are certainly not doing it to get rich! Anyone in a creative field needs that passion to excel whether they are writers, painters, cooks, winemakers or photographers. They are far easier ways to make a much better living but it all comes down to how you want to spend your life. I read an interesting take on passion by the Swiss chef Daniel Humm. When he says he has a passion for food and a passion […]

Photographing Cuba

by Bob Holmes @ Lumaria Workshops

5 tips for maximizing your photo experience in Cuba 2017 As a photographer, Cuba had always been on my bucket list. It was never a problem for me to visit because I’m British but for some inexplicable reason I never went. You are always told, “If only you’d been here 30 years ago.” Well, I wasn’t and I was a little apprehensive as to what dramatic changes had taken place. I needn’t have worried. The always photogenic decaying buildings are still decaying, life in the countryside is still simple, classic American cars are still everywhere. How long this will last remains to be seen and who knows what will happen […]

Time is passing by

by admin @ Asia Photography Tours

Every selector has the potential to have unintended side effects by targeting unwanted elements or clashing with other selectors. More surprisingly, our selectors may even lose out in the global specificity war, ultimately having little or no effect on the page at all. Any time we make a change to a CSS file, we need to carefully consider the global environment in which our styles will sit. No other front end technology requires so much discipline just to keep the code at a minimum level of maintainability.

Calm over the horizon

by admin @ Asia Photography Tours

Many years ago, I worked for my parents who own a video production company. Because it is a family business, you inevitably end up wearing many hats and being the czar of many different jobs. I mainly managed projects and worked as a video editor. On production, there were times that I was called on to work as an audio tech and was made to wear headphones on long production days. In those days, having a really good set of headphones that picked up every nuance of sound was essential to making sure the client got what they needed.

13 day Photographic tour of North Vietnam. After numerous requests to do so we are offering a new tour in Vietnam mainly focused on nothern attractions. We fully researched our itinerary in May 2015 and with a few minor changes very much look forward to going back in the highly recommended full-on ’green season’ of September when it is said the rice terraces will be at there best. This fantastically beautiful area will give a mix of cultural, landscape and people photography. We will photograph life on the streets in the capital Hanoi, ethnic minorities in the markets set amongst the magnificent hills and rice terraces of the north east and the amazing seascapes of Halong Bay. This tour will start with an exploration of old Hanoi where you will get the chance to photograph the bustling activity of the people at work and play. Street food is very much part of life in Hanoi and you will be invited to both photograph and taste the local street food and beverages. After Hanoi we head north, close to the Chinese boarder areas in a region where landscape photographers will find themselves in seventh heaven. We will travel to an area where hill tribe villages play host to incredibly colourful markets with spectacular views amongst rice terraces and high mountains. On all Nathan Horton photography tours we make a point of interacting with local people, so we have designed our itinerary to follow the local market circuit to encounter as many ethnic minorities as possible, often found in their traditional dress to make for great photographs. We finish the tour with a relaxing but spectacular exploration of Halong bay; the well known UNESCO world heritage site. This tour has literally got something for everyone.

Hey DJ play that song

by admin @ Asia Photography Tours

Many years ago, I worked for my parents who own a video production company. Because it is a family business, you inevitably end up wearing many hats and being the czar of many different jobs. I mainly managed projects and worked as a video editor. On production, there were times that I was called on to work as an audio tech and was made to wear headphones on long production days. In those days, having a really good set of headphones that picked up every nuance of sound was essential to making sure the client got what they needed.
