Goodbye Korea: Hello Newest Adventure!

by Barun Sarkar @ Barilee Traveling

We’ve got some life-altering news (no, really). After years on end living it up in South Korea as cross-Pacific expats, we’re incredibly excited to announce that we are FINALLY living out our dreams of living in… Japan!   Since 2010, Barun has visited Japan four times on both business and leisure trips, and from the second he first arrived, he fell head over heels in love with Japan’s sophistication, development and ravishingly beautiful traditional culture. Kyoto in particular, with all its mesmerizing temples and historic sites fed into the natural tour guide in Barun, and it was settled – he would HAVE to live there at least once in his life.   Jen, with her undying love for all things edible, could not tear herself away from the trains of sushi, savoury bowls of ramen, and sizzling gyoza (fried dumplings) on her previous visits to Tokyo and Fukuoka. So when Barun confided in her with his not-so-secret plans for Japan, she clamoured aboard! After a month of real estate agents, temporary apartments and furniture hauls, we’re officially settled in – and what a spot! We’re in the district of Nipponbashi, just steps away from the bustling shopping districts of Namba, […]

Tempat Menarik Di Bangkok Dan Pattaya [Pilihan Terkini]

by Editor @

- Pakej Pelancongan Terhebat

Nikmati Makanan Jalanan Di [...]

Barilee Impressions: Hotel Maui

by Barilee Traveling @ Barilee Traveling

Seoul is such a sprawling metropolis that choosing a clean AND affordable place to stay that isn’t a dormitory can feel like a herculean task. On a last-minute trip to Seoul, we were just in that very predicament. A good place to start is a list of recommended accommodations from the Korea Tourism Organization, proudly carrying the “Good Stay” badge of certification. One of these accredited lodgings is Hotel Maui, which although doesn’t bring a taste of Hawaii into downtown Seoul, it does provide a cozy getaway from the hustle of bustle of the city. Just one subway stop from Dongdaemun, the very heart of Seoul city, it matches prime location with fresh digs while running surprisingly reasonable discounted prices for it all. Book through Agoda,  Booking.com or AirBnB for slashed prices on all of their rooms, be it Standard Twin, Standard Double or Standard Triple. Hotel & Facilities Hotel Maui impresses from the outside by combining wood, metal and glass to create a modernistic tower. A “Good Stay” certification sign perches prominently at the entrance. Breeze into the lobby and you’ll be met with bright hues of white with wooden accents and cutesy details, including Christmas decorations for our visit. A […]

Natural Wonders: Akame 48 Waterfalls

by Barilee Traveling @ Barilee Traveling

With most of us travellers and expatriates sticking to the Japanese cities, it’s literally a breath of fresh air to get out of the city once in a while. If you appreciate waterfalls as much as we do, take the daytrip from Osaka, Kyoto or Nara to Akame 48 Waterfalls, found in Nabari of Mie Prefecture. A place with water so crystal clear, you can trace every stone and bump along the entire riverbed, and even drink it if you’re as daring (or foolish) as one of us was (*cough* looking at YOU, Barun *cough*). Although the name suggests 48 wondrous waterfalls, the number 48 is used as a way to describe “many.” But not to fret, you still get to see 25 magnificent, gushing waterfalls, ranging from big, small, wide and tall. Check out our photos for most of them, but the five main attractions are Fudo Falls, Senju Falls, Nunobiki Falls, Ninai Falls, and Biwa Falls. It’s also famously home to the giant salamander, many of which you’ll be able to see at the Salamander Center at the entrance of the trail. Duration To complete the 3.3 km circuit, the park suggests 3 hours total (1.5 each way). […]

Our company will remain 100% Vietnamese run and owned. When you travel with Offroad Vietnam®, you’re not just customers but also friends. However, we believe in putting the money back into the Vietnamese community. If you need any reference, comments, and reviews about our motorcycle tours and rentals, please have a look here. Offroad Vietnam® is a registered trade name number 93860 on December 25th, 2006 issued by National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam. The Motorcycles. Do You Want A Reliable Honda? We are the first and the only touring company in Northern Vietnam offering Vietnam motorcycling on real road Honda GL Pro 160cc. Upgrade to Honda XR250 dirt bikes is also available at an additional cost. These bikes are between 1998 and 2005 models. They are of course much more reliable than the Russian or Chinese bikes many companies are still using. You can check why our customers liked them here. They not only offer you power and smooth operation but also guarantee a trouble-free and safe trip with disc brake(s). We own these bikes, maintain them ourselves and don’t use rental bikes from any company. Rental bikes are ridden by riders of all skill levels and are usually older or lower in quality. This is a very big difference that many companies do not mention about the rental bikes they use. The Guides First and foremost, Offroad Vietnam® is backed up by a team of guides who have many years touring on motorcycles, are highly appreciated by our clients. These guys are well recognized by most of travellers on motorcycles to Vietnam. Services We Offer Below is a wide range of adventures, mainly off-road tours in Vietnam: motorcycle tours; 4×4 tours; train tours; trekking; cruising and kayaking. People do have different expectations, therefore some classic tours are available at: transvietnam; classic group tours. Budget travellers who want to travel on their own can also rent motorbikes, motorcycles and 4×4 vehicles from us here. Festivals are a big part of life in Vietnam, we offer you the opportunity to take part in these parties here every year. For the most extreme off-road touring, together we can design an itinerary like no other here. To offer even more flexibility and extension to your tour, we connect tours with Sinhbalo Adventures who offers biking and cycling rides, Motorbike Thailand for enduro touring on modern road bikes, Dancing Roads for motocross adventures and James Barbush in Laos. With this special cooperation, you can book one long tour just through one click and leave the rest to us. Our team has been offering motorbike tours for women since 2007. In fact, these tours are with slower riding and more stops so you can meet and talk with local people. Always keep in mind that all our tours and/or proposals can be customized before and during the journey, taking into account road and weather conditions as well as your riding ability and changes in your expectations. Information The webmasters at Offroad Vietnam work around the clock to upload the latest information about travelling in Vietnam, tours with places still available. We own a really big database of over 150 tours and thousands of photos and video shot on the roads which enable us to design and send you a virtual tour shortly we receive your inquiry. We have been trying to create one of the most interactive websites for touring Vietnam. You can read what experience and/or thoughts the most recent customers said about our tours and/or services. In fact, they are provided “as is” and we don’t alter anything at all. A detailed FAQs page is the first thing you can check before sending an inquiry to save your time and ours. Support Offroad Vietnam provides riding lesson for riders who want to flow with Vietnamese traffic for 30 USD per person. After one to two hours, most of our customers handle the crazy traffic well. The most important things are confidence and the passion to ride! This lesson is only available for guided tour clients. For independent riders, we provide rental services at reasonable prices. We also provide free broadband Internet access and photo burning on CDs or DVDs to our clients. All the photos will be backed up on our hard disk and you can get them back anytime if you lose your camera or your memory card is lost or damaged. If we ever use any of these photos, we will ask for the permission and credit the owner.

by Editor @

- Pakej Pelancongan Terhebat

Southern Laos

by Barilee Traveling @ Barilee Traveling

Southern Laos Pakse This sleepy town serves as both a border crossing town and as a base for intrepidous adventurers set to explore the Bolaven Plateau. More details on Bolaven Plateau below. Alisa Guesthouse: Clean, spacious and well-located on the main Pakse drag. Recommended in Lonely Planet and for once, LP got it right. Sinouk Coffee: A higher-end cafe serving as an ambassador to its namesake coffee resort. An extensive menu, French patesserie-style interior and the best WiFi in town makes it worth a morning or lazy afternoon. Daolin Restaurant Cafe: This is #1 ON TripAdvisor (as of Aug 2016) and the main reason we visited. Top notch friendly service and delicious food kept us going back several days in a row. Bolaven Plateau Tired of the tourist overload of Luang Prabang and Vang Vieng and ready to explore a multitude of waterfalls, ethnic villages, a cooler climate, coffee plantations via 2 wheels & a motor? With elevation ranging from 1000 to 1350 meters above sea level, the heat notably subsides once you get up to the latter and lays the foundation for a region covered in rivers and rich in fine coffee plantations. Rent a motorcycle and hit up […]

Wind, Water & Fury – Hozenji Temple

by Barilee Traveling @ Barilee Traveling

There comes an aura of mysticism and fascination when it comes to ancient rituals of offerings, chants and prayers. Imagine a temple, where fragrant swirls of incense waft past as glowing paper lanterns creak overhead. Candles pierce through the darkness from a glass case, coins tumbling into the donation box resound with sharp clinks and murmurs of prayers float through clasped hands. This is what you’ll find at Hozen-ji Temple, buried in the very heart of one of Osaka’s most popular entertainment districts. While most visitors to Osaka are awestruck by the explosion of lights, delicious scents and exciting sights of Dotonbori, Hozen-ji Temple patiently awaits at the end of a quiet alley known as Hozen-ji Yokocho. Almost mysteriously, all the noise and hustle of Dotonbori just a few dozen steps behind you melt away, replaced by a mist of peace and quiet that wraps you up in it’s calming aura. Hozen-ji Temple has been a key landmark since 1637, just a few decades into the Edo era of 1603-1868. This dimple in history was notable for its stability and popular enjoyment of arts and culture, and Hozen-ji watched throughout its early years as many performance theaters rose – and […]

More Than Sushi: Osaka Street Food

by Barilee Traveling @ Barilee Traveling

Heading to Osaka? Whip out your elastic pants and fill that wallet with cash because you’re about to take on the food capital of Japan, famous for being a hub for Japanese cuisine from all corners of the country. Oodles of street food can be found within the more bustling districts, where tourists and busy businesspeople with a full schedule are looking for a quick and tasty fix. Here’s a quick list of the top street foods you absolutely have to indulge in on a trip to the big O! Okonomiyaki   Okonomiyaki was born and perfected in the streets of Osaka, so needless to say, a trip to this foodie city just wouldn’t be complete without gorging on this filling dish. Imagine a thick pancake made with a hearty mixture of egg, finely diced veggies and your choice of meaty topping, ranging from bacon to seafood delights. Or just say “niku nashi de onegaishimasu” for a vegetarian-friendly meal. Foods with “yaki” in the name means “grilled,” and okonomiyaki is grilled to perfection on an iron griddle before its smothered in a sweet ‘n savoury sauce or four. Have it on the go as a true-to-form street food, but if […]

Welcome to Japan! Cosplay Galore

by Barilee Traveling @ Barilee Traveling

After three weeks of running around Osaka to find an apartment and set it up, we were going a little stir crazy and needed to do some exploring. Luckily, we didn’t have to go far to feed our travel-hungry spirits, since we had moved into Osaka’s bustling district of Nipponbashi – packed with shopping, restaurants, nightlife and tourist attractions. We hopped on our bicycles for a little wandering around the ‘hood, when we almost ran right into barricades blocking off the street for a massive, shoulder-to-shoulder crowd that stretched for as far as we could see. We had stumbled upon Osaka’s anime hub of Den Den Town hosting its annual Nipponbashi Street Festa, an all-out free-for-all exhibition of the otaku subculture that worships Japanese anime and manga in all its quirky glory. Men, women, Japanese, expats, young and…slightly not as young all took part in the cosplay bonanza. Completely decked out in amazingly detailed costumes, they staked out spots on the asphalt to pose for the thousands of gawking cameras and the fans behind them, clicking away as if the cosplayers had just jumped out of a manga comic. We joined the fray of photographers, so check out some of […]

Central Laos

by Barilee Traveling @ Barilee Traveling

Central Laos Vientiane As far as Asian capital cities go, Vientiane was actually quite pleasant. Not overpopulated, a diverse food scene, cultural attractions, and an expansive night market make it a place that’s definitely worth enduring the heat for. Buddha Park: Whether you’re buddies with Asian mythology or not, the mix of Buddhist and Hindu sculptures on this grassy section of land will capture your imagination. You’ll find creatures just knee-high to behemoths several stories tall. Go early to try and avoid the searing sun from baking you alive. Do your best to stay in the area surrounding the streets of Samsenthai and Setthathilath, just above the river and night market. This is where most of the action is within walking distance, including several inner city temples, the aforementioned night market, the cultural center, banks, motorcycle rentals and a variety of top class food options. Thakhek / Konglor Cave Circuit Thakhek is a town that really only serves as a base to explore the circuit of caves that stretch eastwards, and most particulularly, the absolutely breathtaking Konglor Cave to the northeast. Inthira Thakhek: Though placed on the higher end of the expense range for lodging, this place is absolutely worth […]

Melancong ke Bangkok: Rahsia Menarik Di Wilayah Berserjarah Siam

by Editor @

- Pakej Pelancongan Terhebat

Video Menarik Melancong Ke Bangkok

Hokubo: Home Away From Home

by Jen A @ Barilee Traveling

It’s easy for city dwellers like us to get caught up with our bustling metropolis lives and never really thinking much about the countryside. This is a common theme among many city folk in not just Japan, but many developed countries. Thing is, the countryside actually has a ton of things to explore and experience, and is full of warm smiles that welcome you in like family. But, getting out there and finding your way around can pose some logistical challenges.   That’s why JTB, one of the biggest tourism companies in Japan, is investing a ton in promoting some really amazing rural spots and putting together programs to help both Japanese and foreign visitors discover what the countryside has to offer. We were lucky enough to get a special invitation from JTB to have a guided tour of Hokubo, a quaint little county in Maniwa City of Okayama Prefecture located just an easy 3.5 hour direct bus ride from Osaka. Here’s a look at the sites and experiences we got to enjoy!   Takoaka Shrine   A winding single-road into the mountains had us pulling up to a secluded mountainside shrine.
