Hiking to the Sekumpul Waterfalls and a red sunset at Spice Lounge

Hiking to the Sekumpul Waterfalls and a red sunset at Spice Lounge

by Kayli Stix @ Journal - Get Busy Exploring

After descending the 200 plus steps and crossing a few bridges we finally made it to the bottom of the triple falls. We drenched our bodies in the rainbow lit falls and swam in the deep pools. It was a bit chilly beneath the constant mist so we ventured on to see the huge twin falls before sweating our asses off climbing back up the never ending steps.

The Georgian Surprise!

by Neha Dikshit @ black swan journeys

As a child, playing Find It If You Can, I would call out, ‘Georgia!’ and watch my friends running their fingers over the world map, looking at me quizzically. My favourite part was showing them that nestled between the Black Sea and Caucasian Range. A few weeks back, while at a wine tasting, our host spoke...

Vespa Adventures: Nightlife Experience in Phnom Penh

Vespa Adventures: Nightlife Experience in Phnom Penh

by Kayli Stix @ Journal - Get Busy Exploring

From classy upscale bars where Jackie Kennedy drank her famous femme fatale cocktail to local joints serving buckets of Angkor beer, we got a glimpse into nightlife of Phnom Penh. We visited a local night market, followed by eating delicious and fresh oysters at a local restaurant, we saw the famous Wat Phnom and Independence Monument lit up in the dark, ate the best peppered banana chips at Hotel Le Royal where we felt like royalty itself, consumed more food at a local restaurant with live music and had a night cap in a hidden alleyway full of trendy and chic bars.

Three days in Dewas

Bamboo rafting through Tham Lot cave

Bamboo rafting through Tham Lot cave

by Kayli Stix @ Journal - Get Busy Exploring

At certain times of the year, you can kayak on the Nam Lang river that runs through the cave but this time around we could only ride the bamboo raft. You must have a guide take you through the cave so we paid our fees and set off to explore all 3 caves within, all of which had something different to offer. They all blew our mind and we wish we had hours to spend exploring each little crevice. We arrived at the exit of the cave during the perfect time to see the hundreds of birds and bats swarm around in circles returning home from a day outside. It was one of our favorite caves and right in our backyard of Cave Lodge.

Discovering Hong Kong's best cheap eats, art galleries and film camera shops

by Kayli Stix @ Journal - Get Busy Exploring

We spent our first few days exploring the massive city on Hong Kong island admiring all of the street art we could find, including a piece by Shepard Fairey. We explored all the art galleries we could (most were closed on the days we tried) and shopped in camera stores, Summer’s favorite pastime. We ate some of the best dumplings and stuffed our faces silly every chance we had, As we are truly now traveling on a budget, we did not get to eat at some of the best places HK has to offer but we did find some amazing cheap eats. We of course got our bubble tea every chance we could.

Cave exploring with Gaymoo, a local Karen jungle guide, in Mae Hong Son

by Kayli Stix @ Journal - Get Busy Exploring

We tagged along with a group of 5 other explorers who came from Pai for the adventure. Our group was picked up in the morning and we were loaded into the back of a pickup and dropped off at the forest with our Karen Village guide, Gaymoo. We then trekked through the forest for an hour trying random fruits along the way, saying hi to some mud bathing water buffalos, blowing bubbles through the leaves of bubble plants and finally making it to our first cave. It had rained the night before so entering this first cave was quite slippery in the mud as we had to nearly crawl on hands and knees for 10 meters. Once in we walked around the beautiful cave seeing all the untouched formations.

We cruised through the streets of Siem Reap to get a taste of all local delicacies and dishes. We began the night with drinks and appetizer at FCC Angkor and nightcapped at Asana, a trendy place to get cocktails and food. The highlight was eating insects and some of the best BBQ chicken at Road 60, where locals hang out after work at a outdoor style carnival with heaps of food, vegetable and fruit booths. Not to mention, the fireants we ate later in the night for dinner at a local restaurant. Yes, fireants. Don't worry, they weren't alive, just spicy and bitter tasting.

Soaking in local hot pools and sipping on meerkat poop coffee (kopi luwak)

Soaking in local hot pools and sipping on meerkat poop coffee (kopi luwak)

by Kayli Stix @ Journal - Get Busy Exploring

Our first full day in Bali we decided to cruise down the street with Putu, our driver to some local hot pools. Feeling elated and completely zen, we decided to pick up our energy by sipping on meerkat poop. That’s right… drinking coffee produced from a meerkats digestive system. Similar to Vietnamese weasel coffee, kopi luwak (meerkat coffee) in Indonesia is made from roasting the coffee beans that meerkats run through their system.

Croatian Vacation

by Shishir Nikam @ black swan journeys

A hundred islands speckle the extended coastline of Croatia, tiny dots on the Adriatic Sea when seen from above. The beauty is compounded by the Dinaric Alps which follow the shores of these glittering waters, and form an entire ecosphere of natural beauty on their own. Croatia is a historian’s fantasy at its finest, the...

We ate the best lunch ever, walked around a little, relaxed at the bed and terrace, ate more amazing food for dinner and finished off the night with a $6 Thai massage. Doesn't get much better than that to make us happy. We knew we would be back to Chiang Mai after our stay at the Cave Lodge so we just relaxed and went to bed early for our long journey the following day.

t was one of the most unique temple interiors and exteriors we have ever seen and definitely worth seeing. It is all white (with some silver accents) on the outside featuring some eerie, dark statues, just our cup of tea. Inside is a beautiful Buddha featured on the main wall, but one would be a fool if they do not turn around once inside. Now I don’t want to give it all away, but on the back wall the artist painted a huge mural to represent Buddhism in the modern age.
